Welcome to the inaugural Brisbane Children’s Writers Festival

QWC is excited to announce the inaugural Brisbane Children’s Writers Festival for the young creative writers and readers of Brisbane. Fitting the occasion, the theme for the new festival is "Beginnings". Become a Youth Member of Queensland Writers Centre to claim your free ticket today.

This one-day festival will be jam-packed with awesome workshops, competitions, prizes, and loads of fun and creative activities to inspire the creativity of young writers and readers. With a mix of social, solo, and more hands-on activities, everyone will have their chance to try something new and share their creativity in a fun, supportive, and creative environment.

Workshops:

Write Your First Poem - Let's hit the ground running and write our first line. Once you’ve discovered an opening sentence, you’ll be surprised at how your imagination takes you places you never thought you’d go.

Into the Unknown - Explore fantasy/science fiction writing and unlock the secrets of creating magical adventures, whether they involve dragons or aliens (or both!)

Playing with Playwriting - Re-imagine the worlds and characters you create and learn new ways to tell your stories by bringing them to life for the stage.

Bring Along:

  • Writing Utensils

  • Lunch and water bottle
