Youth Writing Saturday

Queensland Writers Centre's monthly creative writing workshop for young people aged 10-16.

Youth Writing Saturday sessions take budding young writers on an adventure through their imagination, as they write and create their very own stories, worlds, characters and more. Let us inspire them to take their first steps as a creative storyteller and join a supportive community.

Queensland Writers Centre tutors facilitate the workshops and offer support by listening to ideas, reading work, and helping edit pieces for submission opportunities. We’re all about working towards goals, publishing opportunities, allowing for writing time and free discussion at every session.

Youth Writing Saturday at State Library now offering two time slot options.

As of 12 April 2025, Youth Writing Saturday at State Library now features two sessions per month—one from 10:30am-12:00pm, and a second session from 12:30pm-2:00pm. These sessions follow the same monthly lesson plan; please only book your child for one session per month.
