Writing Queensland
Writing Queensland (WQ) is a quarterly magazine for Queensland Writers Centre members, with over 10,000 copies distributed in PDF and print formats annually. Featuring articles from leading industry professionals, authors and teachers, it examines industry topics relevant to writing and publishing in Australia and around the world, and explores the art, craft and business of writing. The magazine also publishes member milestones and lists of events and workshops, and competitions and opportunities. The magazine is available to members in print or digital form.
PiTCH an Article To WQ
WQ (magazine and online) features content commissioned by Queensland Writers Centre as well as articles pitched to the masthead. We welcome pitches and submissions from members and other interested parties. Articles should appeal to writers at different stages of their careers, ranging from those who are just starting out through to seasoned professionals.
Please note: we accept only non-fiction articles on writing and the writing industry; we do not accept fiction or poetry.
WQ pays contributing writers a rate of 15c per word for articles, to a maximum of 800 words, unless otherwise negotiated. (Please note – interviews conducted by Queensland Writers Centre that promote an author or their work do not attract payment.)
Our editorial team endeavour to answer all pitch inquiries within three weeks.

Pen & Pixel
Pen & Pixel is Queensland Writers Centre's weekly e-newsletter, filled with writing news, our latest courses, competitions and opportunities, and events! We also feature Member Milestones and writing tips, and run regular giveaways. Our #RightLeftWrite writing competition is run in conjunction with Pen & Pixel, with new writing prompts announced and winners featured each month.
