The worst thing in a manuscript isn’t the bad guy. It’s the forgettable character bogged in the clay of the story; the one who, despite a few gurgles, still isn’t much more than words on the page.

Some say the best way to show you understand something is to explain it to someone else. And that by being able to communicate what you know in a clear and concise way, this actually helps you to understand the matter-at-hand better.

I know what I am capable of, and receiving a Queensland Writers Fellowship has validated that for me. It has confirmed what I know I can do, and, mostly importantly, given me time to do it.
