Youth Writing Saturday
A creative writing workshop for young people (Grades 7-12) held monthly at Queensland Writers Centre.
Youth Writing Saturday sessions will take your budding young writer on an adventure through their imagination, as they write and create their very own stories, worlds, characters and more. Let us inspire them to take their first steps as a creative storyteller and join a supportive community - whether you are a self-publishing savant or an eager bookworm, Youth Writing Saturday provides a space where you can find your tribe.
Working with a practical approach, the input from students shapes the curriculum, topics, and writing exercises from month to month. Queensland Writers Centre tutors facilitate the workshop and offer support by listening to ideas, reading work, and helping edit pieces for submission opportunities. We’re all about working towards goals, publishing opportunities, allowing for writing time and free discussion at every workshop.
Format
This is a face-to-face workshop for young writers (Grades 7-12) with a focus on craft; it will be held in-person at State Library of Queensland. It is a program for writers of all levels.
