A creative writing workshop for young people held monthly at Queensland Writers Centre.
The March theme for Youth Writing Saturdays is Creatures of the Wild.
This month's theme for Youth Writing Saturdays was inspired by the beautiful wildlife in Australia and around the world. Whether you admire the chortling magpie or the swinging orangutan, wild animals have always been a source of inspiration for storytellers. In our "Creatures of the Wild" workshop, young writers are invited to write their own tales inspired by their favourite creatures.
About the workshop
Youth Writing Saturdays is a creative writing workshop for young people held monthly at Queensland Writers Centre. Whether the young writers are self-publishing savants or eager bookworms, Youth Writing Saturdays provides a space where they can find their tribe.

Learning outcomes
Working with a practical approach, the input from students shapes the curriculum, topics, and writing exercises from month to month. Two tutors facilitate the workshop and offer support by listening to ideas, reading work, and helping edit pieces for submission opportunities. We’re all about working towards goals, publishing opportunities, allowing for writing time and free discussion at every workshop.
For parents and caretakers
During the workshop there are no parents allowed in the workshop room. Feel free to use the State Library Facilities, have a read, grab a coffee at the State Library Café or GOMA Café, go for a walk or nap in your car. Whatever suits you. We will be supervising the students during their sessions.
