Where do ideas come from? Explore idea synthesis with Maree Kimberley.
This workshop will provide participants with skills for discovering and gathering ideas and putting them together to write a story. We’ll cover idea generation, putting different ideas together to create a story, what makes a good story and finding the right genre for your story.
Format
This is a free workshop for young writers aged 8-12 held as part of Brisbane Children’s Writers Festival 2023, in partnership with Gold Coast City Council. Bookings are required.

About Maree
Maree Kimberley is a writer from Meanjin/Brisbane who loves to write about everything from science and the wonders of nature to supernatural abilities. Some of her favourite things are street art, spooky places, and second-hand shops because there’s always something interesting to find.
Inspired by the remote Cape York wilderness, her young adult novel Dirt Circus League was a 2022 Children’s Book Council Australia notable book, and was shortlisted in the 2021 Aurealis Awards for Best Young Adult Novel and the 2022 Davitt Awards for Best Young Adult Crime Novel.
