Pitching to Agents and Publishers with Tom Gilliatt


Understand the process and learn the tips to perfect your submission pitch to literary agents and publishers.

This seminar will take you through the submission processes used by Australian literary agents and publishers, giving you the insights you need - as well as the tips and advice - to navigate the process and perfect your pitch. There will also be a Q&A session where you can put your individual questions to Tom, and Nicole from the Roderick Centre Team.

   

Learning outcomes

As part of this workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the submissions process.

  • Know what agents and publishers are looking for in an effective pitch.

  • Get the tips and advice you need to make your pitch the strongest representation of your work.

Format

This is an online workshop with a focus on industry knowledge; it will be hosted via Zoom. This workshop is suitable for writers of all levels and writing backgrounds.

 

About Tom

Tom has worked in some of the most senior publishing roles in Australia, first at Pan Macmillan, where he was non-fiction publisher and later director of non-fiction publishing, and then at Allen & Unwin, where he was publishing director for nine years, before becoming a literary agent in 2022.
