The next steps to becoming a more disciplined and focused poet.

In this 2-hour workshop, Melbourne poet Peter Bakowski uses his forty-three years of poetry-writing experience to inspire and guide you on innovating your poetry, and becoming a more disciplined writer. Participants will receive inspiration, practical and philosophical tips, and partake in challenges and exercises to elevate their poetry and writing habits.

   

Learning outcomes

In this workshop, you will learn to:

  • Face the blank page with greater confidence.

  • Widen your range of subject matter.

  • Appreciate the importance of revision, and becoming your own editor.

 

Format

This is an in-person workshop with a focus on writing craft; it will be held at State Library of Queensland, and is suitable for poetry writers of all levels.

 

About Peter

2025 is Peter Bakowski's 43rd year of writing poetry. He writes clear and accessible poetry, and has a large back-list of poetry publications in Australia. Peter’s poetry focuses on the human experience, and examines what it is like to be a human being.
