First Nations Peoples inherently hold a collective shared history of storytelling - storylines overflowing with observations, protocol, and tradition. This shared-facilitation workshop by Aunty Julie Janson and Yvette Holt will discuss critical elements of writings when promoting and forecasting themes of Indigenous characters, phantom townships/communities geography, character names, and much more.

Format
This is a live stream workshop held as part of Queensland Writers Centre's 2021/22 Adaptable program; it will be live streamed solely to an online audience. It is a level 1 course for writers of all levels.
About Julie:
Julie Janson is an award-winning novelist, playwright, artist and poet. Julie lived in remote Northern Territory Aboriginal communities in her early years as a teacher, where she began writing plays and making giant puppets, masks and costumes. She is a Burruberongal woman of Darug nation and now lives in Moruya on the South coast of NSW.
About Yvette:
Yvette Holt is a descendant of the Bidjara Nation, Queensland. Born in Brisbane, where she still lives, Yvette is socially active in numerous community, state and national boards where the elevation of Indigenous Australian women is positively promoted. A graduate from the University of Technology, Sydney, she currently researches Indigenous Australian literature at AustLit: The Resource for Australian Literature at the University of Queensland and also lectures in Aboriginal Women's Studies at UQ.
