In this highly-interactive session with bestselling Brisbane writer Dave Lowe, we’ll take a look at the tips and tricks that pro authors use. We’ll cover the major elements of creative writing, including plotting, creating characters, strong openings, dialogue and humour, as well as working on a sentence level - editing, show vs. tell, and much more.

 

Format

This workshop for young writers aged 8-12 is held as part of Brisbane Children’s Writers Festival 2023, in partnership with State Library of Queensland. Bookings are required.

About DAve

Dave Lowe is the Brisbane-based author of eleven junior fiction novels, published in the UK, Australia and in seven translations, including the award-winning Stinky and Jinks and The Incredible Dadventure series.

Dave has also written four plays, including an adaptation of Andy Griffiths’ The Day My Bum Went Psycho – and Cinderella and the Seven Dwarfs which will be premiering in Brisbane in September this year. He also co-wrote Café, an episode of the TV show Bluey.
