Writing The Novella with Nick Earls

  • Queensland Writers Centre Stanley Place South Brisbane, QLD, 4101 Australia (map)

Get led into the world of novella writing by one of Australia's finest.

Bestselling Brisbane author Nick Earls will provide an overview of novella publishing past and present, with a focus on key points of contemporary writing craft that work specifically for novellas. He will also examine novella publishing, markets and competitions. Participants will gain novella-writing techniques so that they and their work are ready for the marketplace.

Participants will be requested to bring along your best idea that’s too big for a short story and too small for a novel, or ideas for a character or two you’d like to work with, along with some understanding of the conventions of the genre you’re passionate about and want to work in. Nick will bring the novella tools to help you plan, develop and write your novella, along with comprehensive information about novella markets, including genre-specific markets.
