WANT TO WRITE YOUR MEMOIR?
This workshop will guide you in the crafting of a compelling short memoir by delving into your past, refining your narrative voice, and understanding the shades between perception and reality in storytelling. Through a series of exercises and discussions, you will learn to shape an engaging piece.
Learning outcomes
As part of this workshop, you will:
Find a story to tell
Choose what to leave in and what to take out
Develop real-life characters into real-life settings
Write what you know, and research what you don't.
Format
This is an in-person workshop with a focus on writing craft; it will be held at State Library of Queensland. This workshop is designed with a focus on beginner writers of memoir and narrative non-fiction, but is suitable for writers of all levels and backgrounds.
About ANA
Ana Duffy is an Argentinean-born-Australian writer and academic. Her work has been published in Island, Mascara, Coffin Bell, Swamp and has been shortlisted in QWC Flash Fiction Competition and longlisted for Fish Anthology (Ireland). Ana holds a PhD in the field of Latin American literature from UQ and has been teaching Creative Writing and Literary units at QUT for the last seven years. Like many bilingual writers, Ana lives and writes across languages and cultures.
