Queensland Writers Centre presents the 2019 Johnno Award and Xmas Celebration
Queensland Writers Centre's Management Committee and staff warmly invite you to attend our Johnno Awards and Xmas Party celebrations for 2019.
Established in 2001, the Johnno Award is named after QWC founding patron David Malouf's eponymous novel, Johnno. Today, David Malouf's Johnno is considered a seminal Queensland novel. The award is given for outstanding services to writers and writing in Queensland, particularly work that goes largely unrecognised by the public or the industry.
Come and celebrate previous Johnno Award recipients and this year’s new honourees in a short ceremony at the Queensland Writers Centre.
Afterwards, join the festivities and sip bubbles at Queensland Writers Centre 2019 Xmas Party in the Poinciana Lounge, a time to relax and reflect on all the accomplishments and milestones of 2019, and look forward to the exciting possibilities of 2020.
We hope to see you there!

Queensland Writers Centre has worked on an ongoing project in Central West Queensland this year in the townships of Longreach, Blackall, Winton and Barcaldine with Queensland Health and Rotary Longreach. The project is a celebration of life through drought and hardship. We have chosen this image to recognise the work and connections we have made out West. Each year locals are encouraged to dress their letterboxes for Xmas.
