Meet The Author: The House Detective and that Lino Lady

  • Queensland Writers Centre (map)

Against the backdrop of the Brisbane River, join Queensland author, Caylie Jeffery, and House Detective, Marianne Taylor, for an entertaining presentation and conversation with WQ editor, Sandra Makaresz. Inspired by Caylie's Under the Lino project, you'll find out how this Queensland Memory Awards recipient built a community and wrote a book after discovering hidden cash and documents during a house renovation.

There will be complimentary alcohol served during the event, and afterwards, a pop-up bookshop selling Caylie's work, as well as an informal book-signing.

Format

This is a Meet the Author event. More information on program formats and level definitions can be found here.

About Caylie Jeffery

With a background in Nursing, Education and Counselling, Caylie Jeffery works to change the world through positive words and actions. Caylie is a freelance writer, educator and facilitator, helping children and adults to discover the benefits of the written word for mental health and well-being. Creativity and insightfulness can lead to powerful new beginnings for people of all ages, and she loves to facilitate this process. Caylie also works as a mentor at QWC for people keen to write their memoirs/self-help books or want to blog and self-publish. Her latest book, Under the Lino, is available online, at your local library and at all Brisbane Independent booksellers, including SLQ Books.

About Marianne Taylor

Marianne Taylor is an architectural historian, but that sounds a bit stuffy, so I call myself The House Detective. I research the history of houses for people and I absolutely love what I do!
