In this Queensland Writers Centre workshop, you will learn about the different elements that go into writing a page-turning crime story. Acquire techniques to flesh out your story idea, create multi-dimensional characters readers care about, craft dialogue, build pace, heighten suspense and compose a satisfying ending.

Running this class is Dr Leanne Dodd. Leanne is a university lecturer in creative writing and an appointed mentor with Queensland Writers Centre for emerging writers. Under the pen name of Lea Scott, she has published three indie crime thrillers featuring traumatised characters that have gained local and national publicity. Her latest domestic noir crime novel was long-listed for the 2018 Richell Prize with Hachette publishers.

This workshop is offered for free by Brisbane City Council in partnership with Queensland Writers Centre. Phone Coopers Plains Library on 07 3403 1530 to reserve your place.
