The best, the strangest, the most riveting, the most heart-breaking, and the most laugh-out-loud stories, aren't fiction. They're real. They come from history. This workshop covers how to take an incredible historical moment and develop it into a gripping historical story. Participants will work together to develop the outline of a historical story, and learn skills to apply to their own historical fiction writing.
Learning outcomes
In this workshop, participants will:
Discover how to use research to flesh out ideas/characters.
Become aware of the 'dangers' of historical fiction.
Work together in a practical exercise to create a gripping historical story.
Format
This is an in-person workshop with a focus on writing craft; it will be held at State Library of Queensland, and is suitable for historical fiction writers of all levels.
