Join Charlotte Barkla to Bring your characters to life.

Great characters are the backbone of great stories. In this workshop, author Charlotte Barkla will guide young writers through a series of interactive exercises to develop their own believable, flawed, unique characters, that will propel their next story forward.

 

Format

This is a free workshop for young writers aged 10-16 held as part of Brisbane Children’s Writers Festival 2023, in partnership with Moreton Bay Regional Council. Bookings are required.

About Charlotte

Charlotte Barkla is a Brisbane-based author and teacher. Her books include All Bodies are Good Bodies, the Edie’s Experiments series and From My Head to My Toes, I Say What Goes.

Charlotte’s books have been translated in multiple languages and short-listed for awards. She is currently working on five new kids' books including a picture book with Hachette, a fiction series with Walker Books Australia and a fiction series with Scholastic.

As well as writing books and feature articles, Charlotte regularly visits schools for creative writing workshops, sharing her passion for science, creativity and stories with children of all ages.
