About Sue

Sue Wighton is a Brisbane-based freelance writer and singer/songwriter.

In her working life Sue wrote and edited speeches, media releases and other material for the public and private sectors; she also wrote scripts for children’s television, radio ads and documentaries.

Sue’s most satisfying achievement was running her own writing workshops for ten years. Through her business, Write Well, Sue and a dedicated band of trainers conducted writing workshops for Queensland public servants. Write Well still operates successfully today under new ownership.

Sue calls herself an accidental journalist – she wrote a weekly opinion piece for the Courier-Mail (from 2011–2014) – and published a book of her essays in 2020 called Accidental Writer. She still writes and blogs occasionally in between other adventures.

Sue is passionate about language and using it well. She has been known to bake.
