5 Reasons to Tune Into a QWC Livestream
Online courses have become a popular way to improve your skills even when life is busy. Another great option under the online banner is the livestream which offers emerging writers the option to join an online course and either participate through the chat function, watch only or watch later.
Queensland Writers Centre has been running livestream courses for nearly a year now and their popularity continues to grow. While being face to face with guest speakers allows for a close nit, interactive workshop, watching a livestream can be just as rewarding an experience for our participants.
Here are five reasons why livestream doesn’t lose out to a physical workshop.
No voice? No problem.
Livestreams aren’t just one-way lecturing, as long as what you’re watching it live and not recorded. You can participate in a livestream, it’s just not face to face. You put your questions and feedback in a chat feed instead of asking directly. For some people it’s not always easy to ask a question when you’re at a live event. All the faces turning to watch you can make you doubt whether your question is even worth answering.
Don’t even have to get up.
One of the best things about livestreams is the fact that you can watch them wherever you are, as long as you have a device connected to the internet. When you come to physical workshops you’re limited by how far you can travel, but with a livestream you don’t need to go anywhere! You can stay in your bed snuggled in your pyjamas as you watch and participate.
Avoid the people (and the flu!)
Not everyone is a people person, and that’s okay. And with our current focus on avoiding that nasty bug staying away from the hustle and bustle of crowded places seems like a good idea. Besides, you can eat chips as loudly as you like when watching a livestream.
Your time your pace.
Life happens, we get that. And sitting still for a few hours isn’t quite everyone’s forte. There’s also the washing to hang out, the dishwasher to empty, kids to chase after and the whole rest of the world getting in the way of you sitting for a couple of hours to watch an interesting livestream. But livestreams can be rewatched later if you miss something and you can pause at anytime during that second viewing. That gives you the time to continue with the world when life happens.
Saved for later.
When you’re just so busy you’re not available at all during the day, but there is that one class that you really want to watch, livestream recordings mean that talk you can watched later when you finally have time to absorb the workshop goodness.
